Established in 2004 to further international exchange through tourism, Philippine Travel & Tourism Council, a national travel and tourism organization, has since involved itself in a broad range of promoting tourist traffic to the Philippines  through various activities overseas and tourism promotion activities in the Philippines. These engagements have taken the form of operating Tourist Information Centers in the Philippines for foreign visitors, consolidating reception facilities for these visitors, and promoting international conventions and trade fairs.

PTTC supports its goals by conducting tourism-related research and publishing travel magazine and travel videos.

One of the important functions of PTTC regional chapters offices are to help the travel industry sell travel to Philippines to their clients. PTTC regional chapters will explore potential tourism destination in their area and develop tour packages which will sold by all the PTTC members particularly travel agencies and tour operators.  PTTC will provide up-to-date information on travel to and in the Philippines.

A large responsibility of the association is destination marketing since the primary source of revenue for the island is tourism. PTTC also promotes the importance of tourism to the island.
